Types of Therapy
I primarily use the Gottman Method, which is grounded in over 50 years of research on what makes relationships thrive—and what causes them to struggle. This approach deeply resonates with me, as it reflects much of what I’ve experienced in my own 35-year marriage. At the same time, I know that every couple is unique. Often, challenges like emotional regulation can stand in the way of closeness, so I thoughtfully integrate tools from Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Christian Counselling to help couples strengthen their bond and feel more connected.
Training and Experience
I hold certificates in Level One and Level Two Gottman Method Couples Therapy and have completed additional training in Prepare and Enrich (Premarital Program), Christian Counselling, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. My academic background includes a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) in Counselling from Tyndale University, a Master of Education (Ed.M.) from Rutgers University, and double Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degrees in Elementary Education and Psychology from Bethel University.
Personal Background
I have been happily married to my husband for 35 years, and together we raised three amazing children. I am deeply aware of how a marriage shapes the family and community around it, and I believe wholeheartedly that marriage can be not just enduring, but deeply good. I enjoy working with couples whether they are preparing for marriage or have been married a long time.
